Avian Influenza and the poultry industry
I come to you with a heavy heart and a request for prayers. In our area, three farms have now tested positive for high-pathogen avian influenza (HPAI). The impact of this is devastating, not just for the affected farms but for everyone tied to the poultry industry.
The farms that tested positive are faced with a long, extensive cleanup. Those of us within the quarantine zones, including our farm, are unable to house chickens until further notice. Even farms currently operating are under immense stress, fearful of what might happen next.
This is more than an agricultural issue; it’s an economic and emotional strain on countless families and businesses—feed mills, hatcheries, truck drivers, and so many others depend on the poultry industry.
Please keep all the farmers, their families, and everyone connected to this industry in your prayers. Pray for protection for the farms still housing birds, for peace for those affected, and for wisdom for those working to manage and contain this outbreak.
We are leaning into hope and faith during this challenging time, and your prayers mean the world.
